World Taste Atlas: Greek cuisine is the second best on the planet!
The deliciousness of Greek traditional cuisine is once again recognized abroad, as can be shown on the Tasteatlas website where it was ranked second in the world on the list, protothema.gr reports.
The first place in the list of the best traditional cuisines is occupied by Italy, third is Spain, fourth is Japan, the fifth is India, sixth is Mexico, seventh is Turkey, eighth is the USA, ninth is France, and Peru closes off the top ten.
Greece collected a score of 4.73, after Italy with a score of 4.78, and the best dishes were Chortopita, Antikristo, and Paidakia. The best products of Greece, according to the ranking are Fava Santorini, Oranges Maleme of Chania, and Pefkothymaromelo of Crete.
The world ranking of the 100 best dishes in the world includes Gemista (9th place, Stifado 12th place, Mussels 30th place, and Pastitsio 80th place.
In particular, Gemista emerges as the best vegetable dish in the world, and Elliniko Dakos was voted the best salad, while in the fifth place of the same category, the village salad emerges.
Greece is also present in the ranking of the best meat dishes in the world with meatballs (3rd place), the best seafood dishes with fried squid (3rd place), the best desserts with galaktoboureko (5th place), the best cheeses with Cretan gruyere (3rd place), the best sauces with tzatziki (3rd place), the best sweets with Bougatsa (4th place), the sandwiches and wrappers with Gyros (2nd place), the best cooks with stew (2nd place) place), and the best drinks and liqueurs with Tsikoudia and Chios Mastic (3rd and 4th place respectively).
In addition, the Peskesi restaurant in Heraklion, Crete was distinguished as one of the 100 best traditional restaurants in the world (position 18), while especially for Greece, the best places to eat are: Peskesi in Heraklion, Margaro Restaurant in Piraeus, Loukoumades Ktistakis in Athens, Kirkor in Heraklion and Bougatsa Iordanis in Chania.
